SAP has collaborated with several top IT companies to unveil innovations for in-memory analytics, mobile business solutions, and cloud computing.
Speaking at the SAP Sapphire Now conference held in Germany this week, Vishal Sikka, SAP's chief operations officer, said the company has collaborated with the likes of IBM, Cisco, EMC, VMware, HP, Microsoft, RIM and Amazon.
“SAP has unveiled three products aimed at meeting enterprise demands for greater reach and real-time computing capability,” he began.
With each innovation announcement, he highlighted the partners and co-innovators who assisted in the solution development, saying SAP is driven to provide choice through a successful eco-system.
Sikka firstly announced SAP's High-Performance Analytical Appliance, which was built with innovation partners HP and IBM. The appliance, incorporating SAP software, will enable business users to analyse data in real-time without disruption, he explained.
"We have proven that it is possible to process data at unbelievably high speeds of around 2MB in a millisecond," said Sikka. He added the High-Performance Analytical Appliance will be released before the end of the year.
Highlighting SAP's move into mobile business solutions, Sikka unveiled Project Gateway, a technology platform designed to access content in existing and old SAP systems using a range of mobile devices.
Lastly, Sikka discussed the company's latest innovation in the cloud computing space: the Carbon Impact application, an on-demand offering.
This product, he explained, was developed in partnership with Amazon and is the first application to run SAP's cloud computing platform. Version 5 of the application will run in the cloud and be available from July.
In conclusion, Sikka emphasised that SAP has committed to providing innovation that offers real-tine, non-disruptive solutions, which can be achieved not by a vendor of one but by an eco-system of the best.
Co-innovation continued
SAP also unveiled numerous other offerings at the Sapphire conference, in collaboration with top technology providers.
Through a Virtual Computing Environment coalition, Vblock Infrastructure Packages, Cisco, EMC and VMware have co-innovated with SAP to deliver pervasive virtualisation to private cloud computing environments. The collaboration also underscores integration with the SAP NetWeaver Adaptive Computing Controller tool.
SAP and EMC have expanded their global strategic alliance, which includes a reseller relationship, technology integrations, and joint sales and marketing activities designed to benefit financial services customers.
Under the agreement, SAP will resell newly developed solutions, leveraging EMC Documentum enterprise content management, EMC Captiva intelligent enterprise capture, and EMC Document Sciences customer communications management - beginning with the SAP Insurance Broker Statement Processing application by EMC.
The solution extension is planned to be available in the third quarter of 2010 and will be offered to the insurance industry.
