High quality printing, speed, colour management tools and price are weapons that the new Xerox Phaser 7750 colour printer uses to outgun the opposition in the South African graphic arts and advertising industry.
The high performance colour printer shoots out top quality colour at up to 35 pages a minute with the first page in the tray in just 11 seconds - performances that disarm a competitive product from a major international competitor which achieves just 22-24 pages a minute with first page in the tray at 17.5 seconds.
"Speed means productivity and productivity spells success in a business environment that is very focused on doing things faster and better," says Stanley Cohen, printing solutions manager at the JSE-listed Square One Solutions Group, appointed by Bytes Document Solutions to distribute Xerox colour printers in SA.
The standard Xerox Phaser 7750 has a 715MHz processor and 256MB of memory upgradeable to 1GB and delivers print quality of 1200dpi in "Photo Mode", compared with the opposition's standard specifications of 500MHz processor, 160MB upgradeable to 384MB and 600dpi plus rendering.
Cohen adds that colour management software, known as PhaserMatch and PhaserCal, give graphic arts users complete colour control and accuracy. The Xerox Phaser 7750 is also fully upgradeable for extra trays and on the DN, GX and DXF models offers as standard, automatic two-sided printing that saves paper, time and money.
The Xerox Phaser offers a 20GB hard disk as standard compared with a 10GB optional disk at additional cost from the opposition.
"Replacing consumables is exceptionally easy. Anyone in the office can do it. Clearing of paper jams is also simple thanks to the proactive PrintingScout software that displays easy-to-follow graphical instructions on screen," says Cohen.
"High quality at speed and price are the Xerox Phaser's strongest competitive advantages. A Photoshop file can be printed in 23.2 seconds as opposed to 40.5 seconds and a 35-page PDF takes just one minute and 12 seconds compared with two minutes and five seconds by the opposition printer.
"Productivity and speed without compromising quality and price is what modern organisations are looking for. With the new Xerox Phaser 7750, that's what they get, as well as fineline detail unsurpassed by any other printer on the market."
The Xerox Phaser 7750 supports true Adobe Postscript 3 to give exceptionally accurate printing across many devices and platforms at lower cost whereas the competitive product supports a software clone. Overall, the 7750 has a wider colour gamut, exceeding FOGRA Offset press. It also facilitates custom-made corrections to target and match the output device of the user's choice, unlike the competitive product, which cannot be altered to match another device or output.
