COMMAND Antivirus: The only choice in anti-virus protection

Scans faster Detects more viruses Updates automatically Protects multiple platforms
Johannesburg, 29 Sep 2003

COMMAND Antivirus 4.80 (CAV) from Africa SD, exclusive distributor of Command Software solutions throughout sub-Saharan Africa, offers unequalled virus protection to its users. Based on the proven and award-winning F-Prot detection engine, CAV deploys more easily, detects more viruses (and potential viruses), handles more file extensions and returns fewer false positives than its competitive counterparts.

Africa SD announced a package deal where they will provide Command Enterprise Plus for workstations, cover for 10% of workstation-total for servers, Command A-V for MS Exchange or Command Interceptor for your Mail Content Scanning Software, and free home use for employees if Command is used as the company`s major anti-virus.

"Research indicates that as many as 200 new viruses enter the wild every month," says Africa SD CEO Hennie Moolman. "CAV combines smart heuristics, super-fast virus scanning, and dynamic virus detection with fully centralised management to keep networks safe from thousands of known viruses and variants. Additionally, it is regularly certified by CheckMark, ICSA and Virus Bulletin to catch 100% of all viruses in the wild."

"CAV employs two methods for detecting viruses," he explains. "Command issues frequent updates to its definition files, ensuring they are constantly kept up-to-date and contain the latest virus signatures of all identified viruses. These are available on demand across the Internet, or via automated updates to users` systems. Additionally, Command uses up to twice as much code as some of its competitors to ensure the proper identification of any viruses before offering to disinfect."

Some viruses spread so quickly that they attack systems before any warning can be given or updates made to definition files. Command`s HoloCheck Advanced Heuristic Scanning technology detects the effects of suspicious behaviour, the trails that viruses and harmful software leave across system software and files.

"Thanks to this, HoloCheck was able to detect the likes of Melissa and the MTX viruses before the majority of other anti-virus products," Moolman points out.

CAV is available across the widest range of user platforms, including all flavours of Windows -standalone and network - as well as Linux, NetWare, and OS/2. Protection is also offered for Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Notes. CCS Central - the administration software for use with CAV - offers single-point administration across the network, easy updates for all machines and users, as well as centralised configuration of CAV.

Also available with CAV is Command Interceptor, which can be integrated into various third-party applications, including backup software, firewalls, e-mail servers and Web-based e-mail programs. Additionally, the Web-based scanning tool, Command on Demand allows users of and visitors to a company Web site to obtain an instant scan for viruses using the most up-to-date virus definition files, with nothing for the end-user to configure or maintain.

"CAV is used by leading education institutions, Fortune 500 companies and government agencies for one simple reason - it works," Moolman concludes.
