CommInsure appoints string of executives

CommInsure has made a string of executive appointments, recently hiring a wholesale underwriting manager and a advice contact centre leader, writes InvestorDaily

Huw Parry has been appointed as an executive manager for CommInsure's wholesale underwriting business, following an extensive market search to fill the position.

Formerly a group underwriting manager at ING for the past five years, Parry will be joining CommInsure's wholesale underwriting team on 15 November. Parry brings to his new role 14 years' experience in the insurance industry

Vodafone upgrade leads to fewer calls

The outsourced care company used by Vodafone in New Zealand is expecting fewer calls to its contact centre following upgrades to Vodafone's automated customer care service, reports Cellular News

Vodafone spokesman Paul Brislen told the New Zealand Herald that the company was 'rebalancing' its relationship with Salmat.

Salmat currently employs around 200 staff to handle customer care queries for Vodafone. Salmat's executive general manager of call centres Dave Candy says there would be no redundancies as a result of the changes, but didn't comment if the company was reducing its headcount through natural wastage. Some of the contact centre staff have however been offered jobs at Vodafone itself.

Aegis acquires BPO firm

Aegis, has acquired Actionline, a business process outsourcing (BPO) firm in Argentina for an undisclosed sum, reveals TMC Net.

The acquisition, the 16th by Aegis, will add 5 000 employees and 14 clients to the company. Actionline offers traditional contact centre services as well as data base management services.

"Actionline fills a key void in Aegis' geographical and services portfolio," said Aegis chief executive Aparup Sengupta. The acquisition was funded for through internal sources, Sengupta added. The $15 billion by-revenue Essar Group has in the past also helped Aegis fund acquisitions.
