The Harmonic Group has introduced a family of barcode scanners, which it says offer high-speed wireless scanning and storage in a relatively small form factor.
"The Baracoda RoadRunner barcode scanners can deliver more than 10 000 scans over 48 hours of continuous use and can complete 240 scans per second, even if barcodes are damaged or of low quality," says Barbara Cohen, technical systems manager at Harmonic.
Although there are other Bluetooth-enabled barcode scanners on the market, RoadRunners suit mobile workforces because they are compact, rugged, lightweight and can connect wirelessly with a wide variety of mobile devices, says Cohen.
"When connected to a host, scanned barcodes are transmitted in real-time, but if the scanners are out of the 100m Bluetooth range, up to 10 000 barcodes can be stored in memory and automatically downloaded when back in range," explains Cohen.
