Companies rethink airline ticketing

Active Endpoints and SoftConEx have unveiled a combined offering of the companies' ActiveVOS Business Process Management System (BPMS) and Travice products that updates business processes for airline ticket consolidators, travel portal owners and business travel service companies, says Earth Times.

Today, airline ticket global systems (GDSs) like Amadeus, WorldSpan, Sabre and Galileo offer users programmatic access via low-level Web services.

However, these Web services represent only a portion of required by an airfare consolidator or large business travel company and, of course, the low-level services differ from GDS to GDS.
