Compaq appoints M-IT as an Authorised Service Provider

"Empowerment is about skills" says Compaq ASP

Black empowerment means skills development at Mthombo IT Services (M-IT), a newly appointed Compaq Authorised Provider. Says Lucky Khumalo, chief operating officer at MIT, "Our appointment as a Compaq ASP underscores our commitment to the advancement of IT skills for previously disadvantaged groups."

Says Khumalo, "Our philosophy is that real empowerment starts at employee level. Unlike many empowerment companies where majority share holding is black while the majority skills holding is white, more than 70% of our qualified technicians are from previously disadvantaged backgrounds. MI-T had to undergo the same strict auditing process by Compaq in order to qualify as an ASP, which included a thorough inspection of our infrastructure, call centre capabilities, logistics and management procedures. Our successful appointment is testimony to our ability to offer our clients a high level of service quality with a fast response and turnaround time."

"MI-T concentrates on providing services and solutions instead of simply box dropping branded products. Compaq`s large market share of the enterprise server market provides us with a window of opportunity to provide a comprehensive range of services and support for corporate markets such as telecommunications, financial, insurance, government and parastatals as well as the burgeoning SME market, one of the fastest growing markets for the IT industry and for which we have established a dedicated team to provide service and support."
