Compaq Computer recently revamped its Diamond Partner Programme which complements the company`s existing Platinum and Gold Partners and which caters specifically to empowerment companies.
Says Gary De Menezes, CRM and Channel Director for Compaq Computer: "The IT industry in SA has seen a lot of window dressing, tokenism and low power empowerment which has done much to tarnish its image and little to advance the previously disadvantaged in this field. Compaq`s Diamond Partner Programme is unique to SA and is aimed at young IT professionals who qualify as empowerment partners.
"The new programme differs from our other Partner Programmes in that we are willing to invest time and resources in the development of each Diamond Partner to equip them with the necessary technical training, sales skills and support infrastructure as well as a strong brand to address the small to medium enterprise market.
"In addition, through its rebate structure, Compaq is able to offer additional training such as business management, secretarial skills and such in order to help the partners develop their operations into viable businesses with long term stability, well-defined strategies and growth potential.
"Our CRM operation provides support to create leads, generating a high number of lower value transactions in the SME market where Diamond Partners are best equipped to provide products and services. A team dedicated to SME customers is put at the partners` disposal to provide additional sales support from initial contact to post sales."
