IT systems integrator Comparex Africa has broadened the profile and service portfolio of its Tetra division to align with its focus on medium to large corporate enterprises.
Divisional manager Stephen Howe says ERP II, defined by Gartner as "a business strategy and a set of industry-domain-specific applications that build customer and shareholder value by enabling and optimising enterprise and inter-enterprise collaborative, operational and financial processes", will be used as a basis for Tetra`s solutions strategy over the next 12 months.
"We will increasingly be building communities of interest in the industries we service, finding new ways to merge the principles of traditional ERP implementations with the dynamics of e-commerce in a holistic, collaborative commerce environment," Howe says.
"Our role will evolve to value chain participation and collaborative or c-commerce, to cross-sector, industry sector and specific industry processes, and to Web-enabled, open and externally subscribed architectures."
The benefit to clients, Howe says, is a single, integrated suite of enterprise business solutions that ensures a rapid return on investment, guaranteed user adoption, modular solution design, future scalability and an easily customisable platform for any e-business environment."
As the largest Sage Enterprise Solutions partner in Africa, the Tetra division has until now developed integrated business, financial and supply chain management solutions for small- to middle-market companies in South and Southern Africa, and according to Howe, it will continue to offer competitive solutions to this market space.
"Sage`s industry-standard e-business solutions portfolio will strengthen the solutions we already offer mid-market companies, and provide a cost-effective alternative to traditionally higher-end solutions implemented by larger companies."
According to a recent report published at Gartner`s ITxpo 2001 Symposium, by 2005 enterprise users` needs to publish critical information for c-commerce processes will cause ERP II to supplant ERP as the primary enabler of internal enterprise efficiency.
The report adds that e-business electronic connections are changing the ways companies deal with partners, with information access, services and speed as key differentiators. Success in c-commerce will be dictated by accurate and timely information being provided to the trading community. This information originates in ERP II.
"ERP II marks the convergence of ERP and e-business, and Tetra is ready to service its clients` complete e-business requirements through its strategic business partners and standing in the Comparex Africa group," Howe concludes.
