Comparex COA broadens its offering with LiveLink

Johannesburg, 25 Oct 2002

IT solutions integrator Comparex Africa has added the collaborative commerce application LiveLink to the stable of products in its Customer Oriented Applications (COA) division to complement its range of products that specialise in knowledge management, collaborative commerce and document management.

The LiveLink competency, designed to hyperlink employees, business partners and customers across organisations and trading communities, had been held within the managed services division of Comparex Africa, which is one of three alliance partners of US-based Open Text Corporation for the product in SA.

"LiveLink has proven itself within several large local organisations," says Rodney Hood, managing executive at Comparex Africa COA. "One example is Sasol, which has in excess of 5 000 users of the product on its system."

LiveLink`s tightly integrated services deliver true dynamic collaboration and knowledge sharing between individuals, teams and organisations. Rapid deployment, accelerated adoption and low cost of ownership are synonymous with its software design.

"Being Web-based and open-architected, LiveLink is able to connect individuals, groups and organisations irrespective of departmental or geographical boundaries to capture, share and reuse knowledge, which makes it ideal for leveraging distributed resources and enabling teams and groups to collaborate online," adds Hood.

The solution also provides vast document and records management services for accessing, storing and managing millions of documents, acting as a secure central repository for knowledge management across intranets, extranets and the Internet. Its knowledge libraries can span multiple locations, allowing authorised users across the globe access to the software`s functionality from a single, secure Web browser.

Offering a fully integrated set of enterprise services directly to the desktop, LiveLink`s capability to suit a wide variety of business applications, including knowledge management, supply chain and customer relationship management (CRM).

"LiveLink is designed to ease the creation, deployment, modification and management of business processes, no matter how complex, without extensive programming," says Hood. "Its workflow services provide comprehensive facilities, enabling users to graphically create, modify, manage and deploy complex business processes."

During the next few months COA will be hosting a series of information seminars on LiveLink for current and potential customers.

"A number of companies have already shown interest in the product. We`ve conducted an initial feasibility study with a large Pretoria-based parastatal, which has expressed interest in running LiveLink on a pilot site in the Cape. Once we hit the market, we anticipate considerable activity," concludes Hood.
