Comparex Africa`s Customer Oriented Applications (COA) division will be hosting a series of strategic seminars around the country on the future of balanced scorecarding and the value of business intelligence in the corporate enterprise.
The seminars, presented by Comparex Africa COA senior business knowledge analyst Tony Gilbey, will be held in Cape Town on 18 and 19 February, in Johannesburg on 20 February, and in Durban on 21 February. They will cover a range of topics, including:
. Defining business intelligence and the scope of a business intelligence strategy;
. The paradigm shift - understanding business performance measurement;
. Managing change - performance management vs performance measurement;
. How the combination of data, knowledge and skills gives you a leading-edge;
. How a balanced scorecard reflects business performance and management strategies;
. How a balanced scorecard fits in with your business intelligence strategy; and
. How to plan and implement an effective balanced scorecard for your organisation.
"Business today is more than about making the numbers," says Gilbey. "There is an intrinsic pride in knowing you`ve outperformed your competitors, and that you have a superior competitive advantage in your market space.
"Traditionally, balanced scorecarding has provided a barometer on the flat financial performance of the business, but done little to reflect the way companies were changing and adapting to new business scenarios," he adds. "All of that is about to change, with scorecarding being used more intrinsically in the business to reflect quantitative and non-quantitative factors, and give management and staff a handle on how they`re performing in real-world terms."
