COMPAREX South Africa celebrates 10 years of Soweto youth project

As part of the company's corporate social responsibly programme COMPAREX South Africa chose to support 20 children from Kliptown, Soweto, on their educational journey from nursery school to matriculation. The project started in 2005 with the company providing not only financial but emotional support to a select group of underprivileged children.

The jubilee is not only an occasion to look back on to the successful achievements of the past but also an opportunity for internships for the students who have shown in interest in office administration and IT.

According to the company, their willingness to take social responsibility seriously turned out to become a growth benefit for both sides. The students have become a part of the company's team and have managed to inspire employees to pursue an involved mentorship role with the students.

Annette M"uller, General Manager COMPAREX South Africa, says, "Some of our children have been with us since they were four years old and, on a personal level, I am totally committed to this project. The project itself has also led to an opportunity for COMPAREX to open its doors to potential internships with some of the most talented students. To have a positive impact on the youth is a very regarding experience and I feel blessed to be part of their lives."

The internship phase of the project will kick off in the later this year with students being personally escorted from their home to the company's offices in Randburg. During their school holidays the students will learn much-needed computer literacy skills, basic administration skills and critical lessons professional conduct.
