Structured cabling specialist Molex Premise Networks can now offer its South African customers a complete Category 6 cabling solution with locally manufactured cable which includes Molex PowerCat 6 connectivity modules and Lambda Category 6 cable.
Lambda Cables was one of the first manufacturers in the world to get its Category 6 cable approved to the latest draft standard by independent test house Delta Laboratories and is also the only company in South Africa to manufacture Category 6 cable.
Paul Moulster, Sales Manager for Molex Premise Networks Sub-Saharan Africa said: "The cable from Lambda completes the PowerCat 6 range available to South African distributors. It allows them the choice of selecting a local supplier which adds to the overall cost-effectiveness of the Molex solution."
Molex Premise Networks PowerCat 6 is a complete cabling network system which has also been verified to the current Category 6 draft standard by Delta. The system comprises patch-panels, cords, outlets, connectors and now locally manufactured cable. Components are designed for reliability and ease of installation; for example patch panels come with integral cable management and the multi-coloured patch cords have matching coloured boots.
J"org Steinbach, Sales and Marketing Manager for Lambda said: "Lambda is the leading manufacturer of data cable in South Africa and the only local manufacturer with the capability of producing Cat 6 cable with a patented `centre cross` in its cable design. With state of the art testing facilities we can test cable up to 250MHz which was a crucial factor in the development of Category 6 cable."
International test house Delta confirmed that PowerCat 6 not only meets the requirements of the draft Category 6 standard, but exceeds them in a number of important performance criteria. PowerSum attenuation to cross talk ratio (ACR) is better than 10dB at 200MHZ, and return loss is more than 15dB at 200MHz.
