The design and delivery of 'complete solution' access control systems is the focus of Green Byte Technology, recently a new tenant in the Enterprise Building at The Innovation Hub. With a vision of continuous improvement to extend its security product range and break into related markets, Green Byte also aims to plough back into the local community through its support of skills development programmes.
Green Byte's complete system entails electronics hardware, software, installation and maintenance, while its access control systems are geared at providing clients with a complete solution from the ground control, to a full access management and database software package.
"Our primary market for the access control systems are residential security estates and office parks, while a secondary market is access management and a revolutionary booking system for visitor control, time and attendance," says Technology Manager Stephan Pienaar.
Other business services and activities include specialised electronic development, software design and consulting. Cellular communications is one of its latest technologies that is being applied for data transmission. Green Byte's customer base includes corporate companies like De Beers and Sony.
The company's strong technical skills have led to spin-off products, where related technologies have been incorporated and used in its access control systems. These newly developed products make use of USB, cellular communication short message services (SMS) and general radio packet services (GPRS).
"Our vision is to continually add technology advancements to our products, and to extend our range and competencies into related markets. We are in the process of becoming a BEE company and growing the business to other provinces," says Pienaar.
