With the support and encouragement of major players in the IT industry, CompTIA (the Computing Technology Industry Association) has announced the timeline for the rollout of i-Net+, its newest vendor-neutral certification exam. i-Net+ will cover a broad range of technical knowledge of Internet, Intranet and Extranet topics, independent of specific Internet-related career roles.
i-Net+ learning objectives include Internet basics such as understanding addressing, caching and site performance, Internet browsers and clients, programming terms and multimedia file formats. Also covered are connectivity, hardware and software connective devices, domain name registration, and definition of security concepts. The business concepts content of the program includes copywriting, trademarking and licensing and working in a global environment.
The i-Net+ development committee includes representation from Global Training Solutions, HyCurve, Inc., IBM, Microsoft, Novell, ProsoftTraining.com, Sysoft, Wave Technologies International, Association of Internet Professionals, Comark and Entre P.C. Solutions.
"i-Net+ development includes a Job Task Analysis, blueprint development, and third party course review, all in the context of the worldwide environment," according to Perry Anthony, CompTIA`s director of certification.
"The involvement of the international IT community is especially important in the development of this certification. CompTIA and the advisory committee held international meetings in Ireland this month to ensure truly global involvement and perspective as the content of the i-Net+ exam is refined," he said. The certification blueprint for i-Net+ was recently completed and is now available at CompTIA`s web site, www.comptia.org.
"The computing industry is extremely eager to get this program in place and we expect it to gain rapid acceptance as an vital industry standard and predictor of employee success, like our existing A+ and Network+ certification programs," said Eva Chen, i-Net+ certification program manager.
