Compucomp gears up to make the LG PC range one of SA`s favourites

Following the February appointment of premier distributor, Compucomp, as the second distributor for LG Electronics` full IT range, Compucomp has announced that it has successfully launched the LG PC range to its 1000-strong dealer base. At the launch the company vowed to make the LG Electronics PC one of SA`s top-selling desktops within two years.

This was confirmed by Carlos Vizcarra, CEO of Compucomp, who said the company is now "fully-stocked and ready" for what it anticipates will be bullish orders for the three-product LG range - a range that is believed to be well-suited to the corporate market. "We expect sales of the LG PC line to significantly augment the sales of our already established Auwa range of PCs and laptops, which, over the years, have assured that we are consistently ranked within the top seven PC distributors in Southern Africa by volume."

Compucomp is to sell the entry level Celeron-based PC right through to the Pentium III 800 units.

"While we only launched to our dealers at the end of March, sales have already taken off. Although the PCs sales haven`t been as brisk as the sale of LG monitors - which we launched a month ago - we are confident that we will contribute towards making the LG PC range one of the top-selling ranges in SA. The introduction of an LG PC range into the local market is going to give a number of established international and local brands a torrid time," said Vizcarra.

"Although we do offer a lower-end LG PC, our main aim is to break into the corporate sector via our seven branches nationwide and our more than 1000 dealers. Within two years I believe the LG PC will be one of the region`s top sellers."

Vizcarra also said the LG Electronics desktop range complements the company`s current range of products, including its own Auwa range. "We are giving our dealers a wider choice. This is part of our plan to become a one-shop stop for our dealer ," said Vizcarra.

In terms of the agreement struck with LG Electronics, Compucomp is responsible for distributing the electronic and IT giant`s entire IT range, including PCs, monitors, CD-ROMs, CD rewritable recorders and DVD ROMs.
