Computek announced a partnership with InContinuum Software, a leading provider of cloud computing management software that automates and controls the hands-free delivery and management of cloud-based managed services in private and public clouds.
Computek will be offering InContinuum's CloudController as a key component of their enterprise infrastructure management offering. The CloudController management application platform technology is available to Computek's customers immediately.
Computek selects CloudController
Computek, a leading South African company that delivers turnkey ICT solutions to clients in government, public and private sector organisations, has chosen CloudController to be part of its products and services portfolio that delivers cost-effective management of cloud computing environments.
Computek selected the CloudController solution for its broad server virtualisation platform support, extensive back-office automation, secure transaction technology, simple agent-less implementation, support of both private and public cloud environments, and multi-tenancy user hierarchy and role definitions.
Computek's customer base will benefit by using CloudController for design and automation of their own cloud-based managed services and by being able to offer their organisations hands-free order processing, deployment and management of VMs from any cloud infrastructure.
“Computek has selected InContinuum because it is clear that InContinuum understands the technical and business issues that customers in enterprise-class cloud computing environments are facing,” said Harry Chakhala, CEO, Computek.
“Managing a virtual data centre to be 'cloud-ready' is more than just managing the infrastructure. The whole business process side of the equation needs to just as automated in order to deliver managed services from a VDC. InContinuum delivers that with CloudController,” adds Chakhala.
In addition to automating the management of a cloud infrastructure, Computek customers will be able to utilise CloudController's business process automation back office technology to enable the key non-technical functions required to deliver cloud-based managed services such as configuration management, order processing, payment (or chargeback) processing, and contract management.
“InContinuum is proud to be partnering with Computek to enable its customers to automate and control the design, deployment and management of both public and private clouds,” said Phillip Hyde, founder and CEO of InContinuum. “InContinuum's novel approach for the CloudController technology simplifies management of cloud-based resources. Through the Computek and InContinuum partnership, enterprises will see a dramatic reduction in the TCO for managing their VDCs.”
CloudController - solution for cloud-based managed services
The CloudController technology simplifies management of cloud-based resources by allowing all levels of users in any organisation from the IT administrator on down to the resource end-user to quickly configure, provision, deploy, manage, modify and monitor public and private clouds as it pertains to their intended use of the resources.
For users in a public cloud managed services environment, CloudController supports multi-tier hierarchical set-up, distribution and use of cloud resources. Private cloud users benefit from the ability to map roles in their IT organisation to CloudController, thus automating a broad range of operations management functions. Core to CloudController is a complete back-office for payment processing, internal charge-back, support, localisation, operations management and deployment.
Corporate IT departments who already rely upon virtualisation and those enterprises who are ready to take the plunge into virtualisation technologies have the requirement to make more efficient use of their investment in virtualised data centre infrastructure in support of their applications. They need a seamless way to integrate their customer-facing and IT operations management to their back office to gain operational efficiency.
Cloud computing simplified!
CloudController is generally available for VMware ESX, vSphere and Citrix XenServer. Microsoft Hyper-V support follows in Q2-2010. Support for other platforms will be available later in 2010.
