Computer Associates donates $100K to American Red Cross relief efforts in Florida

Johannesburg, 17 Sept 2004

Continuing support for the American Red Cross, Computer Associates International, Inc today donated $100 000 to the Relief Fund and continues to provide relief volunteers to support the organisation`s intense relief efforts in Florida, following the devastating effects of recent hurricanes.

"Computer Associates has been a valued partner for years, and they are committed to providing care and comfort to these hurricane victims, working with the Red Cross," said Skip Seitz, senior vice-president of Growth and Integrated Development, American Red Cross. "We deeply appreciate their support."

Hurricane Frances alone left a record 5 million people in Florida without power, knocked down trees and blocked roads with debris. The American Red Cross` sheltering effort is the largest in Florida history.

"Recent hurricanes have had a devastating impact on so many families and businesses throughout the state," said CA`s Chief Executive Officer Ken Cron. "We are always impressed with the amazing work the American Red Cross and its volunteers are able to accomplish in response to disasters of this magnitude, and we are happy to be able to help."

CA has a strong history of giving to the American Red Cross and was recently awarded the organisation`s 2004 Humanitarian Award for its support of disaster-relief services.

CA has about 500 employees based throughout Florida, with offices in Miami, Tampa, Maitland, Jacksonville, and Sarasota.
