Computer Associates to support empowerment process

Johannesburg, 16 Aug 2002

Computer Associates Africa has thrown its weight behind the empowerment process in SA, with the announcement of a special licensing initiative for government organisations, parastatal companies, local authorities and educational departments.

The initiative is part of a global programme, although in SA it has been taken one step further with additional discounts given on certain CA storage products.

This is according to Carol-Anne Searra, sales manager (Indirect) at Computer Associates Africa. She says SA is now the cheapest market in which public companies can purchase products such as CA`s BrightStor ARCServ, for Microsoft, Netware and Linux.

"In terms of a volume licensing agreement between Computer Associates and our local distributors and channel partners, a wide range of CA products will be made available to organisations in the public sector at prices well below CA`s current Master Licence fee structure - the lowest currently available," Searra confirms.

She says that non-profit organisations, such as charity organisations, will also be covered by the agreement, which is part of CA`s drive to support previously disadvantaged organisations and communities.

"While our emphasis will be on supplying data backup and storage products to these companies, there will be a focus on CA security defence solutions as well. Our aim is to help public companies streamline their operations, become more efficient and so support their communities more effectively," notes Searra.
