Computer Associates unveils enhanced security assessment solution to help stop e-business intruders

Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA), the world`s leading eBusiness solutions provider, has announced the immediate availability of eTrust 7.2, an enhanced version of CA`s Policy Compliance Manager. eTrust Policy Compliance enables organizations to keep eBusiness systems in line with industry best-practices and corporate policies designed to reduce the risk of eBusiness security breaches.

eTrust Policy Compliance is designed to periodically scan platforms and applications for conformance with the latest security advisories from industry groups such as CERT and operating system vendors. It also enables a baseline to be defined that reflects an eBusiness` required policy.

"Cybercrime can result in Web server vandalism, as well as compromise personal and financial information," says Simon Perry, CA vice president, security solutions that spoke at the recent ICM Managing IT Security Conference in Rosebank. "Poor system-level security often magnifies the impact of a network breach, leaving a wide open door for hackers. eTrust Policy Compliance enhances rigorous control of system security settings so that intruders are kept out."

eTrust Policy Compliance provides an interactive GUI which allows management staff to select the level of security they want to apply and schedule audits across groups of multiple machines. Correction scripts are automatically generated to resolve issues that are discovered by eTrust Policy Compliance.

"IS managers say that to manage the risk of integrating the Internet with core business systems, it is necessary to know where the risks are - on an on-going basis," says Jim Hurley, Aberdeen Group, managing director of security. "CA`s eTrust Policy Compliance system is a fancy name for an integrated, 24 x 7 electronic fraud detection and prevention system that can be used to cost-effectively manage the risk introduced into a business by Internet commerce systems and procedures."

eTrust Policy Compliance works with existing systems and is uniquely extensible to support customer-developed applications. It supports a wide range of systems including NT, Windows 2000, Solaris, AIX, HP/UX, VMS, Linux, eTrust VPN, and eTrust Access Control. Applications such as databases and Web servers can also be scanned for best practice security. Interfaces are supported to enable integration with existing system management and trouble-ticketing systems.

About eTrust: CA`s eTrust delivers innovative technologies that support the enablement of eBusiness by securing IT assets. This comprehensive security solution, encompassing risk assessment, attack detection, loss prevention and more, enhances an eBusiness` return on opportunity. eTrust solutions support key industry standards and leverage the powerful services found in CA`s Unicenter TNG Framework.
