Computer Associates International, Inc (CA) has introduced new management utility suites for z/OS and OS/390 users as an alternative and more comprehensive approach to IBM`s recently announced fee-based utilities for DB2 v7.
By choosing CA`s suites, DB2 users can gain the superior functionality of CA`s database management solutions under flexible licensing terms.
With high-speed response times, decreased CPU utilisation and tighter integration, CA`s suites offer a superior alternative to IBM`s DB2 utilities. For 15 years, even as IBM included its DB2 utilities with prior versions of DB2, IT organisations have relied upon CA`s DB2 utilities to complement and add further value to IBM`s offering.

* Unicenter Enhanced Operational Utilities Suite for DB2, which helps data center managers streamline mainframe operations and improve application performance. These benefits are particularly important to organisations that are using their mainframe resources to support new processing-intensive e-business initiatives. This suite includes Unicenter Fast Unload, Unicenter Fast Load, Unicenter Rapid Reorg with optional Unicenter Online Reorg, Unicenter Quick Copy, Unicenter Database Analyzer and Unicenter Fast Recover.
* Unicenter Enhanced Diagnostic and Recovery Suite for DB2, which greatly improves troubleshooting and restoration operations for DB2 systems. This suite includes Unicenter Quick Copy, Unicenter Fast Recover, Unicenter Fast Check, and Unicenter Merge/Modify. These components are particularly useful for producing additional image copies, change accumulation, and incremental image copies to speed up recovery processes.
CA`s DB2 utilities have historically been popular with organizations that have large-scale, highly critical mainframe environments.
