Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA) today warned personal computer users and eBusinesses of the Naked eMail virus (also known as NAKEDWIFE, W32/Naked@MM, and W32.HLLW.JibJab@mm). CA`s global antivirus researchers are classifying the risk of this email virus as medium-to-high risk.
eMails with the virus would have the subject line:
"FW: Naked Wife" and a message body text:
"My wife never looks like this"
and the attachment:
"NakedWife.EXE."
Upon execution, this Trojan launches a movie player in an effort to distract the infected computer user while it deletes all .DLL, .INI, .EXE, and .BMP files in the Windows system directory. It propagates by sending out an email to every eMail address listed in the infected user`s Microsoft Outlook address book.
"This is yet another example of a mass mailing threat that can spread easily and rapidly, by fooling computer users into executing the malicious payload," said Ian Hameroff, business manager, antivirus solutions, CA. "Users should always exercise caution and utilize good judgment when receiving emails with attachments."
CA`s global antivirus researchers will soon release a new signature for its award winning InoculateIT antivirus solution.
