Leading local dignitaries, captains of commerce and top SA entrepreneurs, were present at this year`s Technology Top 100 Awards Ceremony. The Minister of Arts, Culture, Science and Technology, Dr. Ben Ngubane, was the guest of honour.
He acknowledged the winners and leaders in technological innovation from across the country. Computer Storage Services Africa won the technological award, "The Minister`s Award for Technological Excellence". A second award, in the category for the best "Small Enterprise in Gauteng" was also presented to the company.
The company`s data recovery and hard disk drive re-manufacturing capability and claimed technological supremacy in storage device servicing had impressed the panel of adjudicators, coupled with its remarkable growth of over 300% in the past three years. The company`s recorded an audited turnover growth of 192% and export growth of 211% over the past two years. The adjudicators also mentioned that the company`s exemplary management and outstanding technological infrastructures cemented the prestigious awards for the company.
"It was an honour to receive such highly acclaimed awards," says James Grcic, MD of Computer Storage Services Africa, "our capability and technology to recover data from any hard drive and any electronic storage media has put us on the world map. Our company collaborates with engineers from all major hard drive manufactures and storage device developers in several different countries. This collaboration and technological information interchange is the reason that we have become known as a world-class ICT service company."
The company has also become a very fierce distributor of storage devices, including hard disk drives and back-up devices. The company has also entered into a multi-million dollar contract to start manufacturing the CipherNAS range of servers in Midrand.
The company certifies storage devices and hard disk drives for many companies in SA, and has several ASP contracts to further provide storage services here, without having the client having to resort to shipping the units or devices out of the country. In the last several months, Computer Storage Services Africa has started to market its services into Africa and Europe.
At present organisations such as Microsoft, Intel, BMW, SARS, Altron, Bidvest, Sasol, MTN and the United Nations are among its clientele. In the past several months, due to the highly powerful proprietary recovery engine technology, the company has developed decryption and recovery computers that are also used for forensic services. At present the company ships and re-manufactures over 10 000 hard disk drives, services over 200 tape devices, and successfully completes over 240 data recoveries each month. Antonella Gibson, of the Sunday Times, attributes Computer Storage Services Africa`s success "[as] testament to SA`s ability to produce world-class companies, despite the perception that it is a third-world environment".
