Ahead Software has appointed CompuTrolley.com as official local distributor of both OEM and retail versions of its software. According to Daniel Benz, retail sales manager at Ahead Software AG, this decision was based on the need for a strong partner who would be able to supply the retail channel. "CompuTrolley.com is a recognised company in the field of software distribution and is able to add significant value to both us and our client base."
Ahead Software AG is a privately held developer of software applications for CD-R/RW, DVD and Internet Audio, providing optical recording solutions, which are reliable and compatible. "These features and the company`s strong commitment to service and support provide OEMs and end users with key reasons for selecting Ahead Software solutions," comments Gary Naidoo, national product manager at CompuTrolley.com.
Ahead`s flagship product, Nero Burning ROM, also known as Nero 5.5, is the premier application for the creation of the most common types of CDs and DVDs under Windows. The product is fast, ultra-stable, powerful and user-friendly.
Prior to appointing Computrolley.com, Ahead distributed its retail products directly via the Web, supplying few SA customers with OEM options. "Due to a new retail and distribution approach, coupled with internal restructuring, we decided to heighten our focus on developing markets, such as South Africa - highlighting the need for a strong local partner," says Benz.
The South African market is of great importance to Ahead, which considers it the leading African software market. "South Africa functions as a regional trade hub for southern Africa, a territory which we believe offers great growth potential in terms of CD recording. Given Ahead`s strong global position in the CD-RW bundle market, we believe that we already hold a notable market share in southern Africa, which will positively impact future retail sales and is enhanced by the fact that Nero 5.5. is a well established brand name."
Adding to that, Naidoo believes that a drop in recorder pricing as well as end-user demand is driving CD-R/CD-RW uptake in SA. "The local market is definitely still price sensitive, yet another reason why the timing is right to make Nero more accessible locally."
