Compuware delivers tools to improve scalability, availability of e-business apps

Johannesburg, 05 Jul 2001

Compuware SA has unveiled a software suite that helps companies improve the scalability and availability of their e-business applications by delivering comprehensive tools for load testing, monitoring and file and data management.

"In an e-business environment there are many back-end performance testing needs, including load testing in native Java environments. To stay in business, applications must be able to handle high volumes of transactions daily whilst working transparently with applications from other organisations," says Alex Faul, account manager at Compuware SA

QACenter Performance Edition complements several other Compuware tools including defect tracking, functional testing and other test management and application development through a single integrated solution.

"Our goal is to help companies keep their e-business applications and web sites available and scalable through a complete repository of solutions. The load testing technology stresses a site with an unlimited number of virtual users to determine bottlenecks, which helps businesses confidently move applications from development into production," says Faul.

Since data is needed to provide a real-world context to testing, Compuware`s data management component is included in Performance Edition. Additionally, the performance-monitoring portion of this suite provides businesses with the overall picture of what is happening to the system while in production. This set of technologies offers, in a single solution, all of the insight companies need to deploy e-commerce and other applications with confidence.

"Organisations often have no measurable way to predict how a software application will behave under the stress of heavy user traffic. QACenter Performance Edition addresses this challenge head-on. Businesses need to be able to predict application responsiveness, performance degradation and even breaking points caused by too many users.

"This integrated, comprehensive solution delivers the `go live confidence` they need by pinpointing problems and strategically optimising system performance," concludes Faul.
