Cellular software services supplier Comverse, has defined its commitment to the Voice Extensible Markup Language (VoiceXML) by announcing that Comverse speech-enabled solutions will incorporate the VoiceXML standard.
"The commitment to VoiceXML, the standard that enables the delivery of voice-enabled Internet content and services to any phone, highlights the power of the human voice as a natural interface that connects people to information," explained Comverse (SA) MD Stuart Eveleigh.
He said the company is driving the VoiceXML standard to better incorporate the features and capabilities required for advanced Voice User Interface (VUI) development, as well as for tighter integration with the company`s carrier-grade hardware platform.
Comverse recently advanced its standing to Promoter Member in the VoiceXML Forum, the committee chartered with developing the standard. Along with other telecommunications leaders, Comverse plays an active role in addressing the technical and business development initiatives within the VoiceXML community. These activities complement Comverse`s participation in the voice-browsing initiatives currently underway in the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
VoiceXML is a key component in the open systems architecture that defines Comverse`s standards-compliant product line. The portfolio, which spans the company`s core voice portal, messaging, and mobile Internet offerings, includes:
