The latest product from communications equipment designer and developer Far South Networks is the Com.X5 Integrated Access Gateway, a smart solution for the smaller office.
Voice and data convergence happen seamlessly through the device, which is designed as a three-in-one solution. It provides a router/firewall and SIP Gateway with an optional PBX on one simple and easy-to-install device. In addition, managed voice and data services are provided, as is dynamic, multi-level call routing prioritisation.
For small business owners, this means they can project a professional image through their front desk, at a vastly lower cost of ownership.
The Com.X5 provides secure, dynamic and flexible SIP connectivity and avoids hardware obsolescence because it supports migration to "in-the-box" PBX or hosted services when the time is right. This means businesses wanting to upscale do not have to invest in brand new hardware.
In addition, a Web-based GUI integrating powerful diagnostic and reporting tools means that connection downtime and support costs are lowered as service providers and users are empowered to support themselves.
At its heart, this integrated communicator supports legacy telecom (four-port analogue FXS, FXO and BRI) and SIP connectivity via X.21 (Diginet), ADSL2+ and 3G/LTE interfaces for PTSN/VOIP convergence. The Integrated Access Gateway also supports on-device call recording and budget-based call routing.
Telephony ports can be expanded seamlessly.
Over 1 500 devices have been successfully deployed in the South African market alone.
