Comztek has unveiled the Accton Internet access-sharing device (IS3010), a solution providing easy and inexpensive connection of multiple clients to the Internet.
Comztek product manager Lee-Anne Hutchins explained it is an IP sharing device on a 8-port dual-speed hub, designed to allow between one and twenty users to share access to the Internet through only one ISP account.
A local area network (LAN) can easily be set up at the same time, with its 8, 10/100Mbps ports.
"Designed for SOHO users who are seeking a cost-effective solution that offers quick access to the Internet and proficient LAN set up at the same time, the IS3010 offers the convenience of an IP sharer and a repeater in one device with value-added features," she added.
Features such as `dial-on-demand` and `bandwidth-on-demand` significantly reduce charges without affecting performance.
Hutchins noted it is also capable of decreasing downloading time significantly when hooked up to two modems. The second modem is automatically activated to provide support to the first modem. The remote dial-in function makes it possible for a remote user to access local resources through wide area networks (WAN), or reverse call charges when explicitly requested.
A natural firewall, which filters IP addresses or services, makes the network safe from intruders. It has a built in automatic hang up feature to decrease costs. "This plug-and-play solution requires no complex configuration and an instant network can be set up within minutes," she added.
