Computer hardware and software distributor Comztek, a Mustek Group company, has been appointed a Gold Distributor by 3Com.
3Com categorises its distributors and resellers according to a number of criteria and they are awarded "gold", silver" and "bronze" status depending on the results, explains 3Com SA MD Chris van Niekerk.
Van Niekerk says that the advancement of Comztek to "gold" status was made following a careful appraisal of - amongst other criteria - the revenues it has achieved for 3Com products, the levels of expertise of its technical and sales personnel, and its level of commitment to training for key staff.
"In return Gold Distributors are given privileged access to exclusive pricing and marketing programmes and a knowledge base," he says. "They are provided with a dedicated account manager to facilitate the interface between their sales and technical teams and 3Com support personnel."
Paul Conradie, MD of Comztek has welcomed the appointment: "This status, which comes after three years of focus on growing the 3Com brand and market in South Africa, gives Comztek the ability to realise our vision of being a true value added distributor in the market," he says.
"It cements the long-standing relationship between Comztek and 3Com and gives us access to 3Com`s new NBX LAN telephony product set."
