Cisco Systems today announced that it has appointed Comztek as a local distributor, effective 1 March 2002. Comztek, one of SA`s most influential distributors in the networking and communications market, can now offer resellers an even broader range of products and solutions.
Paul Conradie, managing director of Comztek, says: "Cisco presented us with the opportunity to expand our networking and communication product offering. I believe that the partnership will broaden and strengthen our position in the local market and offer our resellers an enhanced revenue opportunity.
"The local IT market has changed substantially over the past few years and for Comztek to maintain its leadership, we continually evaluate the market to ensure that our vision and business model continue to meet our clients` needs. One of the most pertinent of these is communication networks which are an essential part of any business no matter its size or composition, and here Cisco eminently enriches our offering."
Steve Midgley, director, channel for Cisco Systems sub-Saharan Africa, says: "Taking into consideration local needs and trends, we appointed Comztek to offer a broader market access to our products and to address the SME market segment. When considering Comztek`s focused relationships with SME resellers and customers, as well as its reputation for excellent distribution management and the support structures it has in place for its resellers, we believe that they will be able to create new market opportunities for Cisco in partnership with their resellers.
"Cisco has a lot of new and exciting technologies that are changing the way we do business and by offering distribution rights to Comztek we believe that our products will be made more easily available," adds Midgley.
Cisco Systems (NASDAQ: CSCO) is the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet. The South African office was started in late 1994, with a single office in Johannesburg and two members of staff. Growing significantly year-on-year, Cisco is now represented in all major South African centres by local offices and/or partner organisations.
The South African team offers support in sales, pre-sales, marketing and promotions as well as a pre-sales helpdesk.
