Comztek bags HP distribution rights

Johannesburg, 06 May 2011

IT distributor Comztek has been appointed distributor for HP Networking for the Southern Africa region.

This follows the announcement in August last year that Comztek was awarded rights to sell HP Networking products and services in SA specifically.

Comztek's and customer base within Southern Africa, which include Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe, will now have access to HP's networking products and services.

HP Networking Middle East and North Africa channel sales and marketing manager, Thierry Dumont, says the company decided to award Comztek the Southern Africa distribution rights in order to bolster HP's plans to extend its reach in these African countries.

According to Tiens Lange, Comztek's business unit manager for the rest of Africa, winning the HP distribution rights means it will be able to expand into Africa and provide additional product and service offerings to the small and medium enterprise sector.

“Our relationship with HP extends back to 3Com days. We have a solid understanding of what the brand needs and know how to effectively implement the HP strategy both locally and in the rest of Africa,” concludes Lange.

Comztek's customer base in Southern African countries will now have access to products across the HP Networking range, which includes former 3Com and H3C products, as well as the previous HP ProCurve Networking portfolio.

Last year, HP acquired hardware networking vendor 3Com for $2.7 billion. Since then, 3Com's network switching, routing and solutions have been fully integrated into HP Networking.
