Comztek consolidates logistics in new Midrand facility

Johannesburg, 30 Aug 2005

IT systems and communications distributor Comztek has consolidated its logistics operations into a new 7 500 m3 facility, a move designed to boost the company`s customer service levels and enable it to accommodate anticipated growth.

Comztek MD Paul Conradie says the company has grown tenfold since its inception in 1999 and with an acceleration of this trend - Comztek grew by a massive 33% last year - its current warehouse and logistics infrastructure was under enormous pressure.

"With our three-week stock turnover cycle and anticipated growth, we realised that something was going to give. If we were to continue delivering the excellent service our customers are entitled to expect, we had to expand our facility. Fortunately, our new facility - which is three times larger than our old warehouse - is right across the road from our Midrand offices, so customers will not be inconvenienced by the move in any way. In fact, customers will find that the collection and delivery process has been simplified and is now much faster than ever before."

The size of the facility has also enabled Comzek to consolidate all its satellite operations, including its retail and Africa services under one roof, thereby enhancing operating efficiencies, improving turnaround times and providing exceptional product availability.

In addition, the 3Com Service Centre has been relocated to the new facility which also accommodates a new, innovative service for resellers: ComzShop, a retail shopfront with credit card and Internet banking facilities from which customers can make `off the shelf` purchases.
