Comztek, local Accton distributor, has announced Accton`s USB204 hub, which is touted as a convenient means of bringing Universal Serial Bus (USB) connectivity to the desktop, providing ease-of-use benefits to PC users in the home, office and on the road.
"This true plug-and-play system offers four downstream ports for connection to USB-equipped peripherals or hubs and one upstream port for connection to a user`s PC or workstation`s USB port, or to daisy-chain to another hub," says Comztek product manager Lee-Anne Hutchins.
The hub features a compact case, which allows for upright, flat, wall, or under-desk mounting. Up to five USB hubs can be daisy-chained together, supporting any combination of devices up to a maximum of 127 (including the hubs).
"It supports both low-speed and high-speed USB device attachments, as well as the energy-saving suspend, resume and remote wake-on-ring functions," she adds.
The USB204 can be run as solely bus-powered, drawing power from a USB host, or as an option it can use an external power supply. "When self-powered, the four downstream ports can support devices such as a printer, scanner, camera or another bus-powered hub," adds Hutchins.
