Comztek has been chosen as Microsoft`s South African `Finished Goods Distributor of the Year (2001-2002)`. This award was handed over to Comztek at the recent Microsoft Africa Partner Summit held at Sun City.

Mark Dorfling, Microsoft product manager at Comztek, says the award is an "awesome achievement" as finished goods were traditionally not the company`s core business.

"Our specialist field has always been licensing, but after the demise of Siltek, we had to scale up quite quickly."

Comments Anton Jacobsz, manager for OEM, distribution and SMB channel at Microsoft SA: "This award is in recognition of what Comztek has, in a short period of time, been able to achieve. They have shown tremendous commitment to the channel, which has in turn enabled us to maintain our revenue stream.

"They`ve invested a great deal of time by working after hours to process customer orders, therefore ensuring a smooth transition process for the channel, which is indicative of their commitment."

Thanks to Comztek, Microsoft was able to launch Windows XP successfully. The distributor had to jump in at the very last minute, ensuring the software hit the shelves. The company was also responsible for all distribution during the Christmas 2001 period.

Comztek was appointed exclusive distributor for Microsoft at the end of the last year.

"To date, we`ve more than met our commitments. And although we had a few initial hiccups, we identified them quickly and ironed them out easily," comments Dorfling.
