ITWeb's Technology Roadmaps Conference 2008 will explore the future trends of technology and what this means for businesses in the next five years.

The conference will be held on 9 December at The Forum, in Bryanston, and aims to assist CIOs, vendors and technology users to plan for tomorrow's technology, today.

More information about the ITWeb Technology Roadmaps 2008 conference, which takes place on 9 December 2008 at The Forum in Bryanston is available online here.

The conference will address future plans for undersea cables, and look into the cost of telecommunications services.

Lindsey McDonald, analyst for Frost and Sullivan, will discuss the scope, trends and direction of the market.

Stafford Masie, country manager for Google South Africa, will explore the future of media and information. Roy Padayachie, deputy minister of communications, will talk about broadening horizons.

The conference will provide information about what companies can do today in order to plan for the future, says Ivo Vegter, programme director for the Technology Roadmaps Conference.

“Provisioning has serious implications for the future. The more companies know what's down the line for them, the more they can avoid decisions that will cost them the future, and make the right decisions upfront,” he notes.

“This year, we are focusing on what technology is in the labs at the moment and what companies can expect in the near future. There will be no product marketing, which is something that audiences come across too often at conferences.”
