Conlog (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of the JSE-listed Conlog Holdings Limited, market leader in pre-payment revenue systems for electricity, water and solar meters and automotive security electronics and contract manufacturing for specialist electronic systems, is the proud recipient of a coveted 1999 Volkswagen Supplier of the Year award in the Electrical and Electronics Business Category.
The annual Supplier of the Year award, organised by Volkswagen South Africa, gives recognition for high standards in manufacturing quality, product development, technical support, product field performance, supply logistics, finance, sales and marketing and service excellence.
Conlog`s Automotive Division received the award for its unique key features such as its development of the first complete radio-frequency remote-controlled vehicle alarm-immobiliser system for Volkswagen SA.
"We are delighted to have made a significant contribution in maintaining our majority market share by working together with our customers. Focusing on providing our customers a high level of service and quality, is one of our main business objectives," said a delighted Paul Hastie, Conlog`s managing director, after the company was presented with the award at a ceremony attended by the top 50 suppliers to Volkswagen.
"The achievement of Supplier of the Year for Conlog, is the culmination of the effort by all concerned in establishing Conlog as the top South African supplier of automotive electronics and security. Since 1987, Conlog has dominated the South African market and currently supplies the security system for the T3 kombi," adds Hastie.
"This award now confirms Conlog`s capabilities as a world class company and we are confident that the uniqueness of your product and our partnership with Volkswagen internationally, will ensure that we extend our business opportunities with Volkswagen in the world market, " says Hastie.
Conlog, based in Durban, is well established in motor vehicle security system manufacturing, having been in the business for 15 years. It supplies both the original equipment and aftermarket in South Africa and internationally for retro installation by authorised fitment centres, as approved parts and accessories to motor dealerships and as an accredited OE component supplier to motor vehicle manufacturers. Exports on a large-scale began in 1993 and over 2 million of Conlog`s systems had been fitted by the end of 1998. The company counts Volkswagen Mexico and Volkswagen UK, among its international clients.
