Conlog (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of the JSE-listed Conlog Holdings Limited, announced today that it has been awarded the major portion of the Eskom National Contract (ENC) for electricity dispensers and electricity control units for the period 1 January to 31 December 2000, valued approximately R40 million. The ENC has been divided between the three major pre-payment electricity dispensing players in South Africa.
Says Paul Booth, metering director of Conlog, "This contract will substantially boost our annual turnover. We were awarded this ENC as a direct result of the reliability of our meters, combined with our excellent value for money, pricing policy and the quick response times of our national service network, which is available 24 hours a day."
"Conlog has 10 years experience to draw on in the field of pre-payment metering and is using this experience in the development and marketing of its pre-payment electricity, water and solar metering systems. Since 1996 Conlog`s share of the ENC has increased considerably to the 43% mark it now has, " continues Booth.
In addition, Conlog currently holds the ENC for the maintenance of 80% of Eskom`s vending equipment. This contract has been awarded to Conlog for the sixth year running and entails the repair and servicing of Eskom`s critical and strategic vending equipment country-wide. Booth continues that Conlog is constantly striving to drive down maintenance costs.
Approximately 450 000 homes are expected to be connected by the year 2001.
Conlog has service offices in most regions, namely Durban, Newcastle, Johannesburg, Witbank, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, East London, Pietersburg, Phalaborwa, Bloemfontein and Kimberley.
