SMC has announced the 16-bit EZ Multifunction PC Card that combines 10/100Mbps dual speed Fast Ethernet with the power of a V.90/K56flex dual mode 56Kbps fax/modem.
"This allows you to perform multiple communication tasks at the same time. Users can run both LAN and fax/modem functions simultaneously, making applications convenient and saving limited PCMCIA slot resources," says Greg Perkins, country manager of SMC SA.
"With the tightly integrated networking and fax/modem communications, users do not need to juggle multiple cards for concurrent use of LAN and WAN applications. The detachable interface connectors provide real convenience of two cards in one," he says.
The broad Card and Socket Services (CSS) compatibility allows trouble-free use of Internet and intranet connections. Plug and Play capabilities are featured as well as 10/100Mbps auto-negotiation features and support for the most widely used network operating systems.
The card is also compatible with both traditional PCMCIA and advanced 32-bit CardBus slots, and features Ethernet full-duplex mode that doubles network connection speed.
"Digital line protection against connecting to high current digital PABXes is also accounted for. For added convenience, this Fast Ethernet PC card is also dongle-less, so users don't have to concern themselves with broken or misplaced dongles," says Perkins.
"The menu-driven installation utility, LAN diagnostics program and hot swap capabilities further make installing this card a cinch," he concludes.
