Connect your standard parallel and serial ports to USB Ports

Johannesburg, 21 Oct 1999

D-Link, supplier of products, today announced the availability of its DU-CS and DU-CP USB converters.

The DU-CS is an intelligent converter that provides one high-speed RS-232 serial port (up to 115kb/sec), connects to a PC USB port or USB Hub via the Universal Serial Bus (USB) port. The DU-CS features easy connectivity for traditional serial devices.

The DU-CP is a USB to Parallel Printer converter cable, which provides a single Centronics connector for a Parallel Printer and a type `A` connector to plug into a USB hub or PC host.

According to D-Link SA branch manager, Bertus Moller, the DU-CP cable allows a fast and easy connection for Windows98 compatible printers to a PC with USB support. Inkjet and laser printers can be connected via either of these two converter cables in seconds. Not only will the DU-CP make it possible to connect multiple printers to a single PC, but it will also free the PC`s existing Parallel port for Zip drives, cameras, and other devices.

"The DU-CS and DU-CP coverters offer value for money without compromising on quality and forms part of D-Link`s USB product range strategy to keep products simple to buy, use and manage for the SME market place. Dealers are more than welcome contact D-Link SA at (012) 665-2165 or via email at attie@d-link.co.za for more information on D-Link`s USB product." concludes Moller.
