Together with Connet IT Systems, Gary Rom Hairdressing and Cumulus, an affiliate company owned by Calvin Rom, the Cumulus Application has been launched. Rom describes Cumulus as an interactive application that is designed to ask the right questions in order to cater to each client's needs.
Cumulus is a program that asks questions hairdressers might forget to ask, to ensure that the client is using the right products, has the right hairstyle, colour and the like. "A lot of thought and details have gone into this application to ensure that the stylist and client are happy," says Rom. The idea came to him when he was sitting in his salon and listening to some of his stylists consult. "At Gary Rom Hairdressing, we really focus and train hard to consult correctly with our client and unfortunately as humans, we sometimes bring our good and bad days to the work." Rom explains that "Cumulus never has a bad day".
Developers at Connet Systems have been cleverly designing this application since October 2013 and together with Rom have ensured that every function is nothing short of a terrific tinge. By registering with a mobile number and password access is granted to both the client and the stylist.
For the client, while the stylist is texturising and teasing he or she can easily navigate and complete their contact details and overall hair story, from uploading 'before' photos directly to their personalised gallery or completing a questionnaire on the existing quality of their hair. Clients will be able to view previous products purchased on their profile, submit 'after' photos and review their overall gallery in order to duplicate a look. Once a client has been making use of the Cumulus application an automated e-mail has been configured and the client will receive a reminder of their next appointment or even a reminder to purchase their preferred product on their next pamper session. For the stylist this application will ensure that more time can be spent creating a desired look than trying to remember whether a level six or level nine colour was used. When a stylist logs in to the application he or she is able to view a client collection. With this the stylist will be able to edit existing client information and update details such as products sold or any other relevant information from fringes to frullets. Soon to come features will include reviewing quick tips on healthy hair and an overview of the latest trends.
This application will not just be limited to local salons but will later be introduced to big wigs such as Goldwell and L'Or'eal. With the Cumulus application Calvin continues to express that the company's aim is to improve the industry's standard with consultation. At the moment, all over the world they have seen that hairdressers do not consult to their full potential. That is why they would like to get as many stylists and their clients using Cumulus. "This would be most beneficial to Goldwell, L'Or'eal and Twin Care (to name but a few) as we could even put short educational videos on how to shampoo and condition your hair properly."
Since February 2014 Cumulus, preinstalled on a Samsung Galaxy tablet, has been introduced to Gary Rom Hair Salons. The Cumulus application has not yet been introduced to an application store, but is rather being sold by sales representatives that can elaborate on styles from a perm to a pixie cut. As part of overall development, white labelled applications can be designed where the overall look and feel of Cumulus remain identical; however, the salons' logo is added in order to personalise the application. Brendan White, CEO at Connet Systems states: "Connet Systems and Cumulus has come a long way to ensure that the dreams put to paper became what the application is today. Connet Systems is proud to be a part of the Cumulus App and know that this application and the ones to come will be just as smart, stylish and simple".
This application has been designed to entice salon owners to identify the added level of service that can be reached with Cumulus. Whether it is being able to reach the expectation of the client by duplicating a look of three months ago or simply remembering a note made on Cumulus about the fact that the client prefers two brown sugars in her coffee, as Rom puts it: "This application and the rapport building turns the stylist from a sales person into an assistant shopper!"
