The Virtual Press Office (VPO) model for corporate news dissemination on the Web has finally arrived on the South African consulting scene.
Pioneered by the technology publisher ITWeb, the VPO service is offered by the new consulting portal, ConsultingWeb, which was launched in Johannesburg last week.
The new portal -- the first of its kind in South Africa - will create a single source for information on the consulting industry and provide news and analysis on what different consulting firms are doing, while giving consultants a chance to interact and share ideas.
ConsultingWeb gathers news from the entire consulting industry and makes it accessible to other media, industry analysts and the public. The model uses website sections dedicated to a specific company and its corporate news, a strategy that maximizes the accessibility and impact of online news content and allows subscribers to conduct their public relations with maximum efficiency.
In a VPO, a company`s news and press releases are presented alongside a company profile, contact details and other relevant information. The news is delivered to the media, the business community and the general public in the most accurate, appropriate and innovative manner and adds value for all links in the consulting chain -- prospects, customers and suppliers.
Although ConsultingWeb has adopted the VPO model from its parent organisation, ITWeb, Pontsho Lefenya, a director of ConsultingWeb, says ConsultingWeb is far from being a "clone" of ITWeb. "The consulting industry is totally different from the IT industry", he points out, "and has its own extremely high standards. VPO enables us to reflect those standards in the way we serve our clients."
Martyn Moseki, MD of ConsultingWeb, says the new site will provide readers with in-depth and up-to-date knowledge from leading management consulting organisations, supplemented with special insights and commentary from top business consultants and corporate executives.
"By introducing the VPO service," he adds, "ConsultingWeb is set to become the most trusted voice in the South African business management consulting industry."
The new website is a joint venture with ITWeb, which has been South Africa`s most successful and trusted technology publisher for over 11 years.
