Content creation market is maturing

Johannesburg, 26 Jun 2002

There have been widespread opinions that the content creation market is dead. And a study done by AT Kearney last year stated that if content wanted to remain king, someone had to find a more efficient way to move it around and among the growing number of devices.

But the proliferation of products targeted at the content creation, video streaming and digital video markets today is proof that the market is alive and well.

And with the diversity of products available, organisations can pick the solution that will offer them the ultimate in quality and flexibility.

Recognising this, Graphic Image Technologies (GIT) - local distributor of Optibase products - is highlighting the importance of having high-quality, cost-effective solutions that will enable the smooth delivery of quality content over their networks.

"The content creation market is anything but dead, in fact, it is maturing," says Mark Chertkow, managing director at GIT. "Today, there is a variety of quality encoding products available, and at highly competitive prices. This is not only setting the scene for video distribution, streaming and content creation applications, but also means that there is no compromise when it comes to video quality."

Chertkow explains that there are various solutions available that are ideal for enterprise-level streaming, video networking solutions, and video over IP such as video conferencing and business TV.

"These applications also hold a major advantage for universities, hospitals, multi-national organisations, banks, and even retail chains as it can be used for internal corporate announcements, information distribution, video logging and archiving, distance learning, and even security and surveillance."

However, one thing to keep in mind when looking for the perfect solution, Chertkow warns, is the cost of production time lost using inefficient solutions. "A low cost solution is not necessarily a cost-effective solution."

But the benefits are clear - top quality video, highly flexible configuration options that suit a broad range of digital video applications, and a stable and reliable platform with a proven performance record to suit any organisation`s needs.

Content creation is dead. Long live content creation!
