ContinuitySA appoints new MD, confirms new strategic direction

Johannesburg, 07 Jul 2011

ContinuitySA, Africa's largest provider of business continuity solutions, has appointed Michael Davies to the new position of managing director. In this new role, Davies will assume full operational and financial responsibility for ContinuitySA. The current CEO, Allen Smith, will remain on in his current position, but will focus on overall group strategy and acquisitions.

“Allen has been the driving force behind ContinuitySA's growth into Africa's market leader,” says Davies. “This move is part of a carefully constructed succession plan that will give the company the continued benefit of Allen's wisdom and experience, while ensuring the smoothest possible transition to a new generation of leadership. Personally, I am delighted that I will benefit from Allen's mentorship in my new role.”

Looking forward, Davies says ContinuitySA will continue to build on its position as market leader in the business continuity management space to deliver the next generation of solutions to its current and future clients. “Virtualisation and the growing prevalence of affordable bandwidth is driving demand for managed and hosted business continuity services. Our recent acquisition of Immix Network Solutions (now Triple4) is one of the key first steps in building our capacity for delivering a modern solution to the age-old challenge of ensuring business continuity no matter what,” Davies concludes.

Davies holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and a Master of Business Administration from Henley Management College. He has served ContinuitySA since 2003, when he was part of the management buyout from MGX, latterly as financial director. He has also played a growing role in developing and implementing various strategic initiatives for the company.
