Corel announces DSP White Box Programme in Southern Africa

Johannesburg, 07 Oct 1998

New Programme aimed at Small Business Channel

Corel Corporation today announced a DSP White Box Programme intended to provide greater service, commitment and value to customers in Southern Africa. The innovative programme, for small- to medium-sized value added resellers and system builders, will be made available through Corel`s reliable Delivery Service Partners (DSP) Datatec Distribution and Drive Control Corporation. As specialised suppliers of genuine computer components, software and services, DSPs are focused on flexibility, competitive pricing and quick delivery.

"We are pleased to further our commitment to the Southern African markets with the launch of our DSP White Box Programme," said Paul King, Vice President of International Sales at Corel Corporation, " This programme comes at a time when Corel is expanding into new areas of the regional channel. It will offer support and commitment to our value added reseller partners and our shared customers."

The Corel DSP White Box Programme offers eligible small- to medium-sized system builders the opportunity to heighten the profile of their product offerings by bundling Corel`s award-winning software. Resellers can purchase five pack bundles of CorelDRAW 7 or Corel WordPerfect Suite 8 directly from DSPs as needed, avoiding the need to meet monthly purchasing minimums and eliminating the risk of shipping counterfeit software to customers. Corel sells White Box software at a low price point to DSPs.

"The Corel White Box Programme enables system builders to offer industry standard products at competitive prices," said Beverley Rogers, Regional Country Manager for Southern Africa, "Value added resellers can now better than ever answer the needs of their customers."

"We are extremely pleased about our appointment as an OEM/White Box distributor for Corel's White Box products," said Chris Norton, Product Marketing Manager at Datatec-Workgroup. "OEM currently accounts for 20% of our business, and because of the fantastic pick-up rate of Corel products and the perceived value that they add to OEM machines, this percentage can only increase."

"This appointment fits in very well with our strategy to broaden our product range with solutions from industry leading vendors," Neil Rex, Managing Director at DCC. "DCC's extensive Systems Integrator and OEM customer base, as well as its distribution network in Southern Africa, provide a strong synergy with Corel Corporation`s focus on the OEM marketplace," he added.
