Corinex Communications Corporation has introduced its family of Intelligent PowerNet technologies, which include PCI, USB and Ethernet adaptors, to the South African marketplace.
Distributed by South African networking distributor Duxbury Networking, Intelligent PowerNet enables companies to utilise their existing electrical outlets (plug points) to create a real LAN environment.
"With Corinex`s Intelligent PowerNet technology, every power outlet can become a network connection that, for example, enables the sharing of information between several computers, printers and connecting to the Internet," explains Graham Vorster, chief technology officer of Duxbury Networking.
"Basically, you can install a network anywhere you have power, therefore, obtaining instant networking."
Intelligent PowerNet features segment bursting on powerlines which minimises the throughput of networks while still providing latency response and jitter performance.
Importantly, the technology uses Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) with signal processing techniques for high data reliability in noisy media conditions.
Corinex`s networking options` digital powerline technology enables data rates of up to 14Mbps.
All the Intelligent PowerNet offerings are managed by Corinex Open Powerline Management software or by Corinex Wireless Open Powerline software and are compatible with Windows 98SE/NT/2000/XP, Linux and Mac OS.
Corinex Intelligent PowerNet offers the following networking connectivity features:
* Connect individual PCs into a (LAN) through a 110V/220V electric powerline;
* PC file and application sharing;
* Shared broadband Internet access;
* Bandwidth for multimedia payloads including voice, data, audio and video; and
* Networked gaming.
