Cornastone extends knowledge base with new appointment

Johannesburg, 09 Sep 2004

Black-owned IT solutions company Cornastone has extended its IT knowledge base with the appointment of Thylan Chetty as a senior consultant.

Chetty joins Cornastone from Atos KPMG Consulting where he was a senior consultant for the SAP Supply Chain Management division. His responsibilities included working with various packaged software applications in the ERP arena where he has worked on several large projects both locally and internationally.

Apart from working on logistics and advanced planning systems, his last project saw him design and implement a data warehouse for a large automotive company that had disparate systems and no single view of their business processes. "We were able to provide this view by extracting data from these systems and then knitting this data together into a logical framework for reporting through their intranet."

Chetty was attracted to Cornastone by its bold move into the application integration space using an appliance - the Cast Iron Application Router. Cast Iron`s approach removes the cost and complexity from integration. It is standards-based and uses configuration, not coding, to integrate systems.

Chetty sees Cast Iron`s Application Router as the right technology at the right time, and believes it is perfect for the South African market. His priority at Cornerstone will be to utilise his experience in coupling business process optimisation with information systems to deliver innovative integration solutions that meet customer requirements.

"Cast Iron is integral in providing the real-time view to an organisation at a fraction of the cost of normal integration projects," he says.

"His appointment complements Cornastone`s array of highly skilled professionals at management and technical level, with outstanding track records in sales and solutions delivery," says Lufuno Nevhutalu, executive chairman at Cornastone. "We look forward to drawing on his expertise to grow Cornastone`s offerings in information systems and integration. This will be key to fostering and sustaining customer relationships in the short- to medium-term," he adds.

Prior to joining Atos KPMG Consulting, Chetty worked in the supply chain industry as a technology project manager. He was responsible for the successful implementation of the first reference-able site for i2 Transportation Manager 5.0 in EMEA. He is a certified SAP consultant, and started his career as a project engineer working for Sasol Oil.
