Corporate governance - an administrative nightmare

By Global Research Partners
Johannesburg, 20 Nov 2006

The principle of running a business ethically and responsibly is the commonly held definition of corporate governance.

The Satori Group recently hosted some seminars on this subject at which leading executives from major corporates provided insights into how they were handling a topic that many have described as an administrative nightmare.

There was consensus regarding many of the issues involved in the handling of this complex subject and the benefits that ensue from embarking down the road of ensuring that corporate governance becomes a fundamental part of the way an organisation conducts itself.

Many of the delegates voiced their willingness to embrace tools and services that are able to assist them to more effectively and efficiently attain the required end results.

In addition, a representative from one of the large auditing firms raised the issue of assurance. He felt that tools and systems that included a process that facilitates verifiable sign-off and documents an audit trail, would be invaluable to companies that wish to ensure accountability and responsibility is assigned and transparent.

"All the speakers at these seminars confirmed once again that this topic was extremely high on the checklist of most executives," added Di King, MD of Satori Group SA. "We strongly believe comQuest can automate much of the information collection that is so necessary for the completion of the relevant reports. It has already been heavily exploited in this regard by many of our users."
