Dr Harold Serebro, a senior Altron group executive director, has retired from Altron, and has not resigned, as ITWeb incorrectly reported yesterday.
ITWeb apologises for the error.
In an announcement, the company says he is retiring with effect from this month, but will continue to be available to assist on special projects.
Serebro, who served in chairman Bill Venter's office, was appointed to the Altron board in 1994. He held various roles, including chairman of the Altron group purchasing and export councils, which he established between 1987 and 1989.
Serebro also served as a non-executive director on many of the subsidiary company boards.
