CoSORT drives digital dashboards

Johannesburg, 09 Jan 2006

SPI, the Sub-Saharan distributor for Innovative Routines International (IRI), the CoSORT company, today announced that the latter and iViz Group, a software developer specialising in digital dashboards for business intelligence (BI), have formed a technical and marketing alliance.

The companies plan to strengthen their roles in offering a more comprehensive, overall solution for the BI market by cross-leveraging their information production and presentation technologies.

IRI's flagship file manipulation package, CoSORT, features a high-performance data filtering and remapping interface known as SortCL. In a single pass through large input sources in multiple formats, SortCL can: select, sort (merge or join), cross-calculate, type-convert, aggregate, sequence, re-map, and report to one or more output targets in one or more formats.

When a target is specified in Microsoft Comma-Separated Values (CSV) format, the iViz Group's flagship business intelligence product, iDashboards, can import and present the CoSORTed and summarised data in one or more customised charting formats for animated, interactive visualisation.

"By marrying the high-volume sorting, aggregation and reformatting speed of CoSORT's SortCL with the visually-intuitive and meaningful presentations of iDashboards, IRI and iViz group can really bring something special to the business intelligence community," commented David Ferguson, iViz Group's Manager, Partner Programs.

"The linking of these tools through a common data format makes sense," added IRI's Business Development VP David Friedland. "It is now easy and fast to go from massive tables and files into valuable business information that you can see and interrogate through drill-down for better insight."

For example, with CoSORT's FAst extraCT (FACT) software for Oracle; a data warehouse architect can dump a multi-gigabyte table directly into CoSORT SortCL scripts that can produce multiple load and report targets simultaneously. One or more of those detail or summary targets can feed Web-ready iDashboards charts - all at a fraction of the time and cost of a high-end extract-transform-load (ETL) package. Both companies can refer users to such joint solutions.
