Ariel Network Solutions, value-added reseller for RAD Data Communications` range of networking products in South Africa, is offering the latest in the line of X.25/Frame Relay access devices, the FPS-8, an eight-port multiprotocol device that provides access to high speed Frame Relay or X.25 services.
"The FPS-8 is designed for central and regional offices that are looking for a cost-effective way to run legacy-protocol applications as well as IP-based applications on the same Frame Relay/X.25 network," states Mike Fisher, product manager at ANS. "The FPS-8`s high processing capacity of over 3 000 PPS (packets per second), coupled with its eight 2-Mbps data ports, enable the access device to handle traffic from dozens of remote sites."
Each of the eight data ports operates at rates up to 2 Mbps and supports Frame Relay, X.25, SDLC, HDLC, SLIP and async. Configuration is independent and soft-selectable for each port.
Implementing the latest Frame Relay and X.25 standards, the FPS-8 is part of a complete family of multiprotocol packet switching devices, which accommodate central sites as well as small branches. Featuring one to 12 sync ports and from two to 24 async channels, the RAD FRAD/PADs and switches allow users to build low cost private packet switching networks and gain cost-effective access to public Frame Relay or X.25 services.
